Hastings County is holding back on funding requests from number of organizations, awaiting the financial outcome of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At its meeting on Thursday, county council decided to delay a decision on the allocation of $200,000 of Community and Health Partnership funding for 2021.
Five organizations had made requests, including Belleville General Hospital Foundation, Hospice Quinte, the Quinte Humane Society, University Hospitals Kingston Foundation and the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation.
The Kingston foundation was seeking the local share of $234,843 over five years for a redevelopment project at the Kingston General Hospital site. The 2021 amount is $46,967.
The BGH Foundation had applied for funding in connection with the nuclear medicine camera replacement; $1,000,000 over five years, $100,000 in 2021.
TMH Foundation has applied for $300,000 over five years for critical medical equipment needs, and $60,000 is the 2021 request.
Hospice Quinte is seeking $50,000 over the five years, with $10,000 pinpointed for this year. This is aimed at the construction of a six-bed community-based hospice residence.
Quinte Humane Society has appealed to Hastings County for an unspecified amount for its new animal shelter, for Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
Hearts of Hastings Hospice has asked for $15,000 over five years with $5,000 requested for this year. This would be used to support the initial expansion of the hospice and its programs.
