Local comedian Kyle Woolven, also known as “Kyle for Mayor” has officially registered to run for mayor of Belleville.
Woolven announced his intentions to run for mayor on February 16, 2024 in an interview with Tim Durkin and Alana Cameron on ROCK 107.
At the time of the announcement, the next municipal election was 983 days away.
During the interview, Woolven said he wished to split responsibilities with current mayor, Neil Ellis, saying “I would like him to stay on board and take care of all the stuff that he’s taking care of, and I can sort of be the eye candy for people.”
Ellis announced on Friday that he would be seeking reelection to be mayor of Belleville.
Woolven went viral for his series of YouTube videos about the City of Belleville, including his video “Welcome to Belleville” reaching over 190,000 views as of May 1.
