Durham Police have charged a 21-year-old Belleville man following a sexual assault investigation.
The Special Victims Unit of the Durham Region Police Service began their investigation in March after a 14-year-old female victim came forward with allegations of a sexual assault which had occurred in early 2021.
The victim said she had met the suspect on social media where the male suspect claimed he was 17 and went by the name Michael.
Ahmad Aljasem is facing two counts of sexual assault and sexual interference.
He was held for a bail hearing.
Investigators want to ensure there are no other victims.
