On April 27, 2021 members of Project Renewal, Belleville Police Service Emergency Response Team, K-9 Unit as well as Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau executed a residential Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at an east end address. As a result of the investigation, 54.2 grams of Fentanyl was located and seized. This quantity of Fentanyl equates to potentially 542 lethal doses, with an estimated street value of $21,600. Additionally, a small amount of Crystal Methamphetamine was located and seized; as well as a quantity of cash.
Two adults and one Young Offender were charged with the following offences.
Mercedes Rushlow-Stratton (23 years old) of Belleville, Ontario:
- Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime
Rushlow-Stratton was released on an Undertaking with a court date of May 31, 2021.
Deshawn Whyte (19 years old) of Brampton, Ontario:
- Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime
Whyte was released on an Undertaking with a court date of May 31, 2021.
The Young Offender, who cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was also charged with the following offences and released on an Undertaking:
- Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime
