G-Hawks rout Royals
The Trenton Golden Hawks put forth arguably their best all-around effort of the season in a 7-2 rout of the Markham Royals on Friday night at home.
Tiger McDonald recorded a five-point night, Chris Karabassis had three points and the G-Hawks got goals from seven different players in the win.
Carson Poulin bounced back with a 28-save performance in net.
The G-Hawks are on the road to Pickering on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. CJBQ has broadcast coverage for Need-A-Car beginning at 6:20.
Dukes edged by Tigers
Mitch Martan’s two goals weren’t enough for the Wellington Dukes in a close 4-3 home loss to the Aurora Tigers.
Mitch Mendonca added the other Dukes tally.
Jonah Capriotti stopped 27 of 31 shots in net and recorded an assist on Mendonca’s goal.
The Dukes are home again on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. when they welcome the Newmarket Hurricanes to Essroc Arena.
Raiders lose tight battle with Panthers
The best team in the Eastern section of the Provincial Junior C circuit, the Napanee Raiders, lost for just the second time this season, 3-2 to the Port Hope Panthers.
Ryan Casselman notched a goal and an assist for Napanee. Cullen Hinds also contributed a goal.
Belleville native and former Wellington Duke Evan Foley scored the game-winner for Port Hope.
