Students at Albert College competed in a skill-testing math competition on Tuesday.
The competition pitted students against each other in head-to-head games as part of a tournament to determine who had the best math skills. Students from grades 1 to 3 competed in addition while grades 4 to 6 tested their skill in multiplication.
Anne Beveridge, Junior School Principal, said the tournament adds to a positive learning environment for students.
“This healthy competition encourages active participation and promotes teamwork, leadership and collegiality,” said Beveridge. “Whether they’re taking part as competitors, coaches, judges, or organizers, our students are active participants in the learning process and develop valuable skills that extend beyond the classroom.”
The competitions were first created during the COVID lockdowns as a way to make math lessons more engaging during distance learning.
