A Brighton man has been charged with being intoxicated in a public place and causing mischief while later in custody.
Northumberland OPP responded to a report of a disturbance on Dundas Street in Brighton around 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
Further reports to police told of the same person at a commercial area just off Prince Edward Street.
Police say they were able to locate the accused who was causing further disturbance to passing motorists before being arrested and taken to a nearby detachment.
It is said that there was mischief caused to government property inside the building.
Thirty-one-year-old Abdul Rakeeb of Brighton was charged with the following:
- Being intoxicated in a public place
- Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property.
The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
