A new leisure site in the Quinte West area officially opened to the public Saturday.
The Frankford Skatepark was unveiled as a spot for youth to get outside and be active in the community.
Local youths Dalton Andrews and Troy Shaxon designed the area as a Street Skate Park, available for not just younger kids, but older ones as well.
The 10,000 ft. skatepark is located in the Frankford tourist spot, north of Frankford beach.
Linda Reid, Frankford Skatepark Committee Co-Chair, explains the decision to put the skatepark in that location.
Reid says much of the $322,000 cost of the skatepark was raised through grant applications and fundraising.
