A Tyendinaga man faces a number of charges following an attempted traffic stop in Belleville.
Officers with the Belleville Police Service spotted a vehicle travelling in the area of Dundas Street and Burnham Street at around 11:26 p.m. on Tuesday, and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
Police say that the driver failed to stop and continued driving, eventually pulling into a parking lot.
Officers spoke with the male driver, when, during the interaction, a female attended the area and advised officers that the driver was there to pick her up.
Further investigation revealed that the driver was subject to several court-ordered conditions, including non-communication with the female.
As a result of investigation, a 53-year-old Tyendinaga man was arrested and charged with:
- Failure or refusal to comply with a demand
- Failure to comply with release order x3
- Driving while under suspension
- Fail to stop for police
- Insecure load
- Driver fail to surrender licence
- Novice driver fail to provide breath sample
- Class G1 licence holder unaccompanied by qualified driver
He was held for a bail hearing.
