The scariest night of the year is in the books.
We’ve turned our clocks back an hour and temperatures are heading
lower.
Winter weather and tough driving conditions are next and Kevin Empey of Empey Tire on County Road 28 east of Rossmore says even if we don’t get much of the white stuff, snow tires are still the way to go.
“Snow tires are fantastic in snow, yes. But trust me, in wet pavement and cold they’re fantastic. Anytime it’s below 7 or 8 (degrees) a snow tire will stop in half the distance of an all-season,
in the rain. There’s no question.”
Winter tires are made from a softer rubber allowing them to have a better grip in cold weather.
