Hastings–Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee has announced $75,000 in provincial funding for the First Nations Technical Institute.
The one-time grant will establish a safety management lead position to oversee safety standards and track hazards across the school’s flight training programs.
FNTI officials say the investment will help prepare the institute for more complex flight operations ahead of this September.
“With aviation now having a rotary-wing program starting in September, this is a really critical opportunity to to support the safety and ensure that we are doing everything that we need to make sure that our students are safe,” First Nations Technical Institute President Suzanne Brant said to media.
The grant is part of a larger $586,000 investment across eight Indigenous transportation projects in Ontario.
