Twenty-five Late Models registered for race one of the Late Model Open Miniseries with fifteen crate and ten open motor vehicles taking over the track. The night also featured the Gord’s Water Vantastics Mini Van races, Thunder Stock, Mini Stock, and Stinger features.

Rinaldi defeats the open motor Late Models

The 40-lap Late Model Open race saw Steve Baldwin No.5 start on the pole with Nathan Rinaldi No.3 to his outside. In row two were Ryan Lambert No.41 and Joe Brosseau No.47B. In row three, rounding out the starting top five was Adam Turner No. RH94 in fifth. Twenty-five Late Models fired up with No.5 Baldwin and No.3 Rinaldi holding onto their starting positions. By lap seven No.5 Baldwin had built a significant lead over the pack and No. RH94 had made his way to the third position. Halfway through the race No.5 Baldwin still held the lead with No.3 Rinaldi in second and No. RH94 Turner on his tail in third. A restart on lap twenty-three allowed both No. RH94 Turner and No.3 Rinaldi to pass No.5 Baldwin for the lead. With seventeen laps to go No. RH94 Turner had the lead and put his open motor to use, gaining a significant lead over the pack behind. On lap thirty, No. RH94 seemed to be losing some speed and allowed No.3 Rinaldi to catch up to him. With five laps to go No.3 Rinaldi made the pass for first position and holds it! No. RH94 Turner put up a fight until the end, but No.3 Nathan Rinaldi was able to take the feature win. No. RH94 Adam Turner finished in second, followed by No.5 Steve Baldwin in third, No.46 Brandon Mowat in fourth, and No.07X Tim Kerr in fifth.

Lammle brings it home in the No.95 Mini Van

The Gord’s Water Vantastics Feature race began with No.69 Carter Rhodes and passenger Declan Paradis on the pole. Starting in second were No.74 RJ Punchard and Riley Hackman and in third were No.01 Tyson Gregory and Vanessa. The 12-lap feature began with No.69 Rhodes holding the lead for nine laps while No.74 Punchard and No.97 Kyle Gregory battled for the second position. Meanwhile, No.95 Chris Lammle made his way through the pack from his sixteenth starting position appearing in fourth on lap ten. On lap eleven Lammle was able to make three passes to take the lead from No.97 Gregory. With only one lap to go No.95 Chris Lammle and passenger Jake Ackerman were able to take the checkered flag. Following them were No.44 Tom Grant and Char Rittwage in second, and No.199 Dave Patterson and Miss Cooper in third.

Ramsay punches it to Victory Lane

The Thunder Stock 20-lap feature saw No.03 Justin Ramsay start in the first position followed by No.22 Tyson Gregory in second, No.89 Kolby Ellis in third, No.6 Warren Mowat in fourth, and No.10 Carter Rhodes in fifth. When the green flag dropped No.03 Ramsay pulled ahead to hold the lead with No.22 Gregory and No.89 Ellis not far behind. Two cautions slowed the field in laps three and four, bunching the field up for a restart with No.03 Ramsay still on the pole but No.89 Ellis to his outside this time. On the restart, No.89 Ellis went high in turns one and two and left No.26 Brock Gregory just enough room to squeeze by to take the second position. No.0 Tyler French also made his way by No.89 Ellis and the battle between him and No.26 Gregory began. The pair battled it out and No.03 Ramsay continued to build his lead. The race finished with No.03 Justin Ramsay taking the win. Behind him No.26 Brock Gregory finished in second, No.10 Carter Rhodes in third, No.0 Tyler French in fourth, and No.16 Kaitlyn O’Blenis in fifth.

Coleson Gregory secures his first checkered flag

The 15-lap Mini Stock Feature began with No.1 Coleson Gregory on the pole, No.97 Kyle Gregory in second, No.2 Trevyn McCrillis in third, No.91 Jack Veenstra in fourth, and No.8 Devon O’Brien in fifth. Thirteen Mini Stocks went green with No.1 and No.97 Gregory racing side by side for first. Meanwhile, No.22X sub driver Travis McLean made his way through the field from his twelfth starting position. By lap nine, he had made the pass for third and was on the hunt for No.1 Gregory and No.91 Veenstra in first and second. However, with only five laps to go he was only able to catch No.91 Veenstra which meant No.1 Coleson Gregory had secured his first ever feature win! Behind him No.22X Travis McLean finished in second, No.91 Jack Veenstra in third, No.37 AJ Peters in fourth, and No.22 Keith Dunk in fifth.

Pedersen does it again!

The Stinger 12-lap feature race saw No.93 Jorden Pickell start in first followed by No.21 Michael Storey, No.18 Brian Cross, No.20 Cameron Pedersen, and No.13 Billy Jr O’Hara. Lap one saw No.20 Pedersen on the hunt for the top spot moving up two positions and beginning his battle with No.93 Pickell for first. The short-lived battle ended on lap three as No.20 Pedersen gained the lead and did not look back. No.93 Pickell fended off No.18 Cross throughout the race and was able to hold onto the second position. The race finished with No.20 Cameron Pedersen taking the win followed by No.93 Jorden Pickell in second, No.18 Brian Cross in third, No.21 Michael Storey in fourth, and No.95C Chris Lammle in fifth.

At Brighton Speedway Mystical Distributing and Bill’s Johns present the Ontario Traditional Wingless Sprint cars for the Simon Pettit Memorial Race on August 1st. The night also features Late Models, Canadian Modifieds, Thunder Stocks, and Mini Stocks. The gates open at 5 p.m. and the green flag drops at 7 p.m.
