On Saturday, June 27, at Brighton Speedway, QBT Excavating and Hotch’s Auto Parts presented Monster Truck Madness featuring Higher Education, Overkill Evolution, and surprise guest Black Stallion. Michael Vaters and his team thrilled the sold-out crowd, with jumps, spins and Mikey Vaters II in Overkill Evolution expertly performed the two-wheel handstand on the front straight. Kids of all ages saw all three monster trucks rip up the infield, crush cars, and take huge jumps in the finale. The performance was memorable and electrifying, setting the stage for even more action in the feature.

Bill’s Johns Mini Stock Feature
The night began with AJ Peters No.37 on the pole for the Mini Stock Feature, still looking to secure his first feature win in this division. Starting in second was No.91 Jack Veenstra, in third No.357 Ethan Lord, in fourth No.1 Coleson Gregory, and in fifth No.2 Trevyn McCrillis. The field went green with No.37 Peters and No.91 Veenstra holding their positions, while No.97 Kyle Gregory jumped into third. He began to put pressure on Veenstra, hoping to take that second spot. On lap three No.97 did just that and then caught a lucky yellow that stacked the field back up again with him right next to race leader No.37 Peters. The restart saw No.97 lose three spots and allowed No.91 Veenstra to take second once again. However later, both No.1 Gregory and No.97 Gregory pressured No.91 Veenstra together to make the pass. Both Gregorys looked to take the top spot from No.37 Peters, but there was not enough time in this 15-lap feature. The race finished with No.37 AJ Peters taking the win, followed by No.1 Coleson Gregory, No.97 Kyle Gregory, No.91 Jack Veenstra, and No.22 Keith Dunk.
Vanderlaan Building Products Late Model Feature
This 30-lap feature started with Ryan Lambert No.41 on the pole next to No.46 Brandon Mowat. Starting third was No.3 Nathan Rinaldi, in fourth No.21 Rich Sanders, and in fifth No.11 Kyle Sopaz. The field went green with No.3 Rinaldi taking second while No.41 Lambert flies creating a large gap between him and Rinaldi. Unfortunately, No.3 Rinaldi then tried the high side and allowed No.46 Mowat to pass down low. No.46 Mowat, now in second, tried to close the gap between him and No.41 Lambert. Meanwhile, No.57 Charlie Sandercock fought his way through the pack to join the top three. A caution on lap eight brought the field back together, crushing No.41 Lambert’s lead. No.57 Sandercock attacked No.3 Rinaldi to take the third position. On lap 22, No.41 Lambert, No.46 Mowat, and No.57 Sandercock were all stacked behind one another with both Mowat and Sandercock looking to claim the top spot. Lap 25 brought the three into lapped traffic, reducing the opportunities to pass for the lead. Ultimately, No.41 Ryan Lambert was able to hold onto the lead and take the checkered flag leaving No.57 Charlie Sandercock in second, No.46 Brandon Mowat in third, No.5 Steve Baldwin in fourth, and No.3 Nathan Rinaldi in fifth.
Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modified Feature
Last week’s runner-up No.29 Phil Potts brought this feature to green followed by No.212 Adam Whaley, No.32 Doug O’Blenis, No.24 Travis Fox-Connor, and No.1 Shawn Gregory. Lap one began with No.32 O’Blenis and No.1 Gregory passing to take second and third while No.29 built his lead ahead of the pack. No.40 Wadforth weaved his way through from his eighth starting position to take fourth. The trio of No.32, No.1, and No.40 tried to close the gap between them and No.29 Whaley, going three-wide while all fighting for the same position. Lap eleven brought No.29 Whaley into lapped traffic, forcing him to slow down allowing No.40 Wadforth and No.1 Gregory to catch up. Lap thirteen saw No.40 Wadforth attempt to make a pass for first with no luck as they continued to fight through lapped traffic. A caution flag brought the field side-by-side, giving No.40 four laps to try to take the lead. No.29 Whaley and No.40 Wadforth fought for the top spot trading positions, but No.29 Adam Whaley was able to secure the win. No.40 Ron Wadforth had to settle for second this time, followed by No.1 Shawn Gregory, No.25 Greg Belyea, and No.32 O’Blenis.
Brighton Automotive Thunder Stock Feature
The last race of the night saw No.10 Carter Rhodes on the pole followed by No.18 Kyle Anderson in second, No.72 Doug Anderson in third, No.16 Kaitlyn O’Blenis in fourth, and No.76 Cody Driscoll in fifth. The field went green with No.10 Rhodes leading while both No.18 and No.72 Anderson put pressure on him. Lap four saw No.72 Anderson take the lead. A restart on lap seven gave No.10 Rhodes another shot to regain the lead, but he unfortunately went too high going into turn two and spun out. With No.10 Rhodes now at the back of the pack, we saw No.26 Brock Gregory coming up from behind putting pressure on both Andersons, No.18 and No.72 hoping to take the lead. Eventually we saw just that, and the father-son battle for second began between No.18 and No.72. The race finished with No.26 taking the checkered flag followed by No.72 Doug Anderson, No.09T Garren Taylor, No.10 Carter Rhodes, and No.44 Tommy Bailey.
