Unemployment in the Quinte region was down just slightly in February.
The unemployment rate for the Belleville-Quinte West Census Metropolitan area which includes Belleville, Quinte West, Deseronto-Tyendinaga and Stirling-Rawdon dropped one-tenth from January to 9.9 per cent last month.
The local number remains well above the national rate which rose to 6.7 per cent from 6.5 in January.
Canada lost 84,000 jobs in February, concentrated among youth aged 15 to 24 and men between the ages 25 and 54.
The decreases came largely from full-time and private-sector work.
The provincial rate was also up, rising to 7.6 per cent from 7.3
