The Belleville Police Service and fire department closed off a part of the downtown core early Thursday.
A female was threatening to jump off the Bridge Street bridge at around 2:30 in the morning.
It took a while but officers were able to convince her to step down safely.
Firefighters were on standby ready to conduct a water rescue if necessary.
