Police are investigating a fatal incident that occurred this past weekend at a maximum-security facility southeast of Napanee.
OPP officers responded to Millhaven Institution in Bath after 28-year-old inmate Darian Daignault suffered critical injuries.
Daignault was rushed to a nearby hospital, but investigators confirm he later died from his wounds.
A post-mortem is now being conducted to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death at the institution.
The OPP-led Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad is investigating the death, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Investigators are also working closely with the Office of the Chief Coroner, the Forensic Pathology Service and Correctional Service Canada, with support from the OPP Forensic Identification.
