Belleville’s Economic and Destination Development Committee has laid out its recommendation for where revenue from the Municipal Accommodation Tax should be directed this year.
The City brought in more than $458,000 through the tax to September of 2020 year and had an additional $168,000 remaining in reserves from 2019.
After allocating the mandated money to the Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board and some other projects that were already budgeted for, there was just over $212,000 left to spend, with the committee recommending that money go towards eight projects or reserves.
The biggest amount would be $70,000 to put up more tourism-related signage, with plans to also put $15,000 towards Quintelicious and $10,000 in support to the farmer’s market, among other projects.
The committee also recommends council put $50,000 of that money into the waterfront development reserve and more than $34,600 into a future projects reserve.
