Between September 13 and September 16, 2026, multiple packages containing contraband and unauthorized items were seized at Collins Bay Institution in Kingston.
Correctional Service Canada (CSC) reports the items seized at the multi-level security federal institution included tobacco, marijuana, “shatter” (cannabis concentrate), hashish, crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and edged weapons, as well as cell phones and accessories.
The estimated institutional value of these seizures is $258,225.
CSC uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions.
Tools include ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.
