The public is being invited to review the Development Charges Background Study conducted by the City of Belleville and provide feedback during a public meeting on July 27.
Development charges are fees collected from new development, with the city saying it will help fund the growth-related capital costs of municipal infrastructure and services needed to support that growth.
A release from the city says that the background study proposes a new Development Charges By-law to replace the existing by-law (2021-201).
The city says it evaluates how growth will impact infrastructure and community service needs over the next several years and recommends updated development charge rates and policies.
The public meeting will be held at Council Chambers in Belleville City on July 27 at 4 p.m.
The background study and draft by-law can be found online or in person at the Engineering and Development Services counter on the second floor of City Hall.
Residents can provide feedback in person at the public meeting or submit feedback online through the comment card on the project page under the survey tab.
The proposed by-law is anticipated to come before council in September for consideration.
