Belleville police are warning of a series of coordinated break-and-enter incidents at residential homes in the area.
In a release, the Belleville Police Service says that a series of four recent daytime break-and-enter incidents are believed to be linked, with occurrences in the Potter’s Creek, Parkdale, and Farnham Road areas.
In some of these cases, police say there is evidence of pre-planning, including suspects seen in a parked vehicle monitoring homeowners leaving, or attending residences to knock on doors and determine whether anyone was home.
Several suspect vehicles have been identified and are actively being investigated, police say in their release.
At this time, there have been no reports of injuries associated with these incidents, however, the suspects are believed to be targeting unoccupied homes and gaining entry through forced means.
The community is being asked to remain vigilant and take steps to enhance home security.
“Residents are reminded to ensure all doors and windows are secured at all times, including during daylight hours when the home is unoccupied. The use of alarm systems, exterior lighting, and video surveillance is also strongly encouraged where possible.
Police are also reminding homeowners to be mindful of unfamiliar vehicles or individuals in their neighbourhoods, and to promptly report any suspicious activity.
Anyone with information related to recent break-and-enter occurrences is asked to contact the Belleville Police Service at 613-966-0882.
