Two-hour free parking at municipal parking lots within the Downtown Business Improvement Area of Belleville is officially being implemented today.
In order to take advantage, all vehicles must obtain a free parking permit from the pay-and-display machine or through the HotSpot Parking app using the lot’s zone number.
Vehicles parked for more than two hours must pay the regular parking rate of $2 per hour for any additional time.
The release from the City of Belleville states that the change applies only to municipal parking lots within the Downtown BIA, which includes the Front, Riverside, Riggs and Pinnacle lots.
The Clark and Courthouse lots are not within the Downtown BIA and are excluded from the two-hour free parking.
The parking options are as follows:
- Municipal parking lots within the Downtown BIA: The first two hours are free, followed by the regular parking rate of $2 per hour.
- Front Street on-street parking: Free for a maximum of one hour. There are no changes to these parking regulations.
- Other downtown on-street parking (including Market Square): Metered at $2 per hour with a maximum of two hours. There are no changes to these parking regulations.
All downtown parking remains free after 5 p.m. and on weekends.
More information about downtown parking can be found at the City of Belleville’s website.
