The Quinte West Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its 2024 President’s Dinner and AGM on Thursday, March 21st at Occasions by the Bay in Bayside. This is a special night in Quinte West where the business community comes together to recognize the accomplishments of its Chamber, the success of its business community and to pay their respects to this year’s Honorary Life Time Membership recipient Chandy Davis.
“It is our honour this year to recognize Chandy Davis with a Honorary Lifetime Membership,” said Quinte West Chamber president Brent Parsons. “Along with her brother Gord Davis, she runs Electro Cables Inc., a successful wire and cable manufacturing business in Trenton and still manages to find the time to contribute to our community and the economic development of our region.”
Chandy was born in Cobourg, ON and studied Electrical engineering at McGill University. During her time at McGill, she learned to play rugby on the varsity team. She played for over 7 years and eventually made the Ontario and Canadian rugby teams.
Chandy is currently the chair of the Quinte Manufacturers Association (QMA) and sits on the board of directors for the Trenval Business Development Corporation and is an active volunteer in her community. Along with her involvement with the QMA and Trenval she has also contributed her time to sit on Quinte Health Care board committees, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters advocacy committees, Trenton Rotary Club, Loyalist College advisory committees and many other projects to help people in her community.
Chandy is a wonderful role model as a female leader and was the first woman in her area to be presented with the Quinte Business Achievement Awards Business Person of the Year in 2018. She also received the YMCA Peace award in 2023 and is also the first woman to chair the Quinte Manufacturing Association.
She strongly believes in educating her coworkers and community about overall wellness. This includes better communication techniques, financial training and also mind and body health. She is extremely proud of her two sons and two stepdaughters! She lives on her farm in Quinte West with her horses, dogs and rescue cats.
