Environment Canada has ended the Special Air Quality Statement for the region after days of smoke-filled air due to forest fires in Ontario and Quebec.
The air across the Quinte region has been much better on Thursday with the Air Quality Health Index for the Belleville area decreasing since hitting highs of 10+ on Tuesday and Wednesday.
As of 3 p.m. Thursday, the AQHI for Belleville was low risk at 2.
Smoke continues to blanket parts of the Northeastern United States and other parts of Ontario with a Special Air Quality Statement issued for the Toronto area earlier today.
