The Belleville Police Service has announced it has successfully implemented Next Generation 911.
NG911 is a nationwide upgrade that improves how 911 calls are received and managed.
While residents will continue to dial 911 the same way in an emergency, the new system introduces several important enhancements, including:
- Faster and more accurate location information
- Stronger reliability and cybersecurity protections
- An automated text back feature
- Improved backup capabilities in case of system failures
The Ontario government has provided over $1.3 million since 2022 to support Belleville Police Service’s transition to NG911.
