Belleville Police are investigating a sexual assault in the city’s downtown core.
Late Monday morning, a 15-year-old female was walking in the area of Front St. and Campbell St. when she was approached by an unknown male who then pushed her up against a wall and sexually assaulted her.
The victim was able to fend the suspect off and did not suffer any physical injuries.
The suspect is described as 30 to 40 years old, dark-coloured hair, having a dark “bushy” beard and wearing a green army style jacket with lots of pockets and a blue ball cap.
Police are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the suspect and are asking anyone with video footage of the area or dash board cameras from vehicles that may have been in the area between 11 a.m. and noon on Monday to contact Constable Stein at cstein@bellevilleps.ca or 613-966-0882 x 4191 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
