There were lots of smiles in Picton Thursday morning as it was revealed the Tim Hortons Annual Smile Cookie Campaign was a record breaker for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation.
This year’s campaign, which ran the first week of May, raised $14,434.67, topping the 2022 result by $1,429.
This was the 10th consecutive year the Picton and Wellington restaurants donated the proceeds of their cookie campaign to the foundation.
This year’s Smile Cookie campaign pushes Tim Hortons’ cumulative giving to $80,696 over 21 years.
“This year’s campaign was a record-breaking success, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the loyal support of our customers and our dedicated staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to create over 14,000 smiles to Back the Build for our new County hospital,” said Paul Massey, owner of the Picton and Wellington Tim Hortons.
“Thank you to Paul and to all the amazing donors for their positive support of our Back the Build campaign. You all put a smile on our face with this year’s fantastic result,” said Nancy Parks, Back the Build campaign cabinet chairperson. “Every donation, no matter the size, helps get us closer to reaching our $27M fundraising goal for the new hospital.”
More than $20.7 million has been raised to date.
The new 96k square foot hospital is projected to open in 2027.
Donations received between now and 2027 will help purchase major medical equipment needed in the new hospital, in corporate environmental sustainability enhancements and smart technology.
