Hastings County has approved an official plan amendment to support a new quarry.
The Hastings County Planning and Development Committee discussed the application for a plan amendment during their meeting on Tuesday. The plan amendment seeks to permit a Class A Quarry on a portion of the affected property.
The quarry is proposed for part of Lots 21 to 24, Concessions 10 & 11, in the Township of Faraday. The quarry would consist of digging above the water table only, on a roughly 19.5-hectare section of the 36.5-hectare property and operate seasonally between May and November.
The planning amendment was approved without debate, and referred to the next session of Hastings County Council for final approval.
