Bay of Quinte MP Ryan Williams led a group of conservative MPs from across Ontario on a visit to the Quinte region on Friday.
The primary focus of the visit was a tour of CFB Trenton.
MP Williams said that it is important to show off all the work the armed forces are doing.
“It’s really important that we support the 5000 men and women that are there. Ongoing operations in Sudan and others are keeping them quite busy right now,” said Williams.
The tour highlighted some of the challenges faced by the military, such as falling recruitment rates. Williams said it is important to show support to the armed forces as they face these issues.
“Some of the issues they have like recruitment, so trying to keep recruitment up, and certainly men best said that they continually need in the base and the military aircraft and equipment that they have. So it’s really important to me that we showcase that end of it here in this region by CFB Trenton,” said Williams
Besides visiting the base, the group took in some local restaurants and attractions across the Quinte region.
