The Sexual Assault Centre for Quinte and District is preparing a series of events for the upcoming Sexual Assault Awareness Month in May.
May 1 is wear purple day, where people are encouraged to wear purple in support of victims of sexual violence.
Coming up on May 4 is a special education event in advance of Murdered and Missing Indigenous People’s Day on May 5. The centre will be hosting a drum circle, doing face painting, and offering educational activities. That event starts at 10 a.m. at their facility at 250 Sidney Street in Belleville.
On May 11 there will be a special fundraising event at Belleville’s Boston Pizza, from 5 to 8 p.m. The centre will also host a family movie night on May 14.
More events are set to come later in the month.
Established in 1997, The Sexual Assault Centre for Quinte and District provides a wide variety of confidential support services for victims of sexual assault, both female and male.
