Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a serious collision that has sent one person to hospital with life-threatening injuries in Cramahe.
Members of the Northumberland OPP, along with members from the Cramahe Fire Department services, and Northumberland County Paramedics responded to a report of an individual located in a ditch off Huycke Road at around 3:15 a.m on Saturday.
A heavily-damaged all-terrain vehicle was located nearby.
The person was taken to a local hospital and later airlifted to another medical centre with life‑threatening injuries.
Huycke Road was closed for several hours while officers conducted the initial investigation at the scene.
The roadway reopened at approximately 5:00 p.m. the same day.
A second vehicle believed to be involved in the incident has been seized. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
The Northumberland OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
Assistance is being provided by OPP Forensic Identification Services and the OPP Central Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team.
