Belleville police responded to 66 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on April 30, 2023 to 5 a.m. on May 01, 2023.
Assault
On April 29, 2023 at 8:53 p.m., a male was sitting near the corner of Bridge St. E and Church St when he was approached by another male who began physically assaulting him. Following the assault, the suspect fled the area. Police attended however were unable to locate the suspect. No injuries were reported. The identity of the suspect is known and police are continuing to investigate the incident.
Break and Enter
On April 28 2023 at 4:30 p.m., police were called to attend a residence in the west end of Belleville for a break and enter in progress. Upon arrival, police observed the suspect being held down by the home owner who had initially called police. Timothy Evans, a 59-year-old male with no fixed address was arrested and charged with break and enter, possession of break and enter instruments, fail to comply with a probation order and possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order. Evans was released on an undertaking with a court date in May 2023.
