In the midst of an extreme cold warning from Environment Canada, the low temperature record has been absolutely shattered.
Meteorologists at CFB Trenton have recorded a temperature of -31.7, absolutely shattering the previous record low for Feburary 4 of -27.2 set all the way back in 1946.
Environment Canada’s extreme cold warning remains in effect, with area residents urged to cover up and remain indoors when possible. For those who have to brave the cold, it is recommended to cover up as much as possible as frostbite can form on unprotected skin within minutes at these temperatures.
