A former councillor is looking to return to the horseshoe in Quinte West.
Duncan Armstrong has filed papers to run in Ward 1 Trenton.
The retired Trenton High School teacher served on council from 2014-2018.
He ran for mayor in 2018, falling to Jim Harrison.
Armstrong has been heavily involved in various volunteer endeavours over the last several years, helping raise money for the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation, the homeless and service clubs.
He also helped raise donations of money and PPE during the height of the pandemic and has led a volunteer team in the clean up of the grounds at the National Air Force Museum.
Recently he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee Pin for community service and volunteer work.
Armstrong says he is concerned about the affordable housing shortage, doctor shortage and the provincial health care crisis.
He would also like to see a review of the Ward system, a reduction of the number of councillors, a councillor salary freeze and maintaining public participation on city committees.
When it comes to endorsing a mayoral candidate, Armstrong says he is putting his support behind Karen Sharpe noting people want change.
