Belleville City Council and senior staff took a tour of the new Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward Tuesday as the facility gets closer to completion.
In July 2019, council approved a special grant of $400,000 as well as in-kind services and permits for the construction of the Humane Society’s 16,200 sq. ft. Animal Care and Education Centre on Wallbridge Loyalist Road.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk said, “City Councilor Pat Culhane would be so very pleased to know that the city has continued to support this initiative as she was so very passionate about this cause.”
The centre is on track to welcome animals and caregivers in late summer.
The It Takes Heart capital campaign raising funds for the new building continues.
Capital Campaign Chair Greg Sudds says they will need to repay the loans from Belleville and Quinte West.
