Belleville police responded to 60 calls for service over a 24-hour period between 5 a.m. on March 2, 2022 and 5 a.m. on March 3, 2022.
Breach of Release Conditions
On March 2, 2022 at 8:30 p.m., Belleville police observed a male on a bike in the area of Gordon Street. Police recognized the male as Cecil Merkley, a 28-year-old Belleville resident. A records check indicated that he was on a release condition to be with his surety at all times. He was on his own and subsequently arrested. Merkley was charged with one count of failing to comply with a release order. He was later released with a court date of April 7, 2022.
Arrest on Warrants.
On March 3, 2022 at 12:50 a.m., while on patrol, Belleville police observed a female on a bike in the area of Pinnacle Street and Victoria Avenue. She was stopped for failing to have proper lighting. A records check indicated that there was a warrant for her for failing to appear for fingerprint, and failing to appear in court. As a result, 27-year-old Belleville resident Victorya Ladouceur was arrested and held for a bail hearing on March 3, 2022.
Metal Theft
Belleville Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance regarding a metal theft. On February 23, 2022 at 11:10 p.m., unknown suspects were caught on video in the rear yard of a business on College Street East. The suspects were observed removing approximately $15,000 worth of stainless steel sheets. The investigation is continuing.
