However, it’s not all bad news as about half the local corn crop is already in the ground.
Meanwhile, due to the war in the middle east and skyrocketing oil and fertilizer prices, Harrison says this year’s crops will be among the most expensive ever to put in the ground.
He says Ontario croppers are among the most efficient in the world but there are many sectors involved before food shows up on grocery store shelves.
Already, the United Nations worldwide food price index has been showing a steady increase.
