In keeping with the Province of Ontario’s reopening plan that will see the lifting of many public
health and workplace safety restrictions associated with the COVID–19 pandemic, Warden Rick
Phillips has terminated the Emergency Declaration as of today, March 1, 2022.
Hastings County declared a public emergency on March 26, 2020, in accordance with the
Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, in response to the COVID–19 pandemic. This
decision was made to ensure the continuity of operations and continue to deliver
essential/critical services to the public while maintaining the health and safety of all residents.
“Hastings County takes the health and safety of our staff, residents, and those that we care for
extremely seriously. We have reached a point where we are able to move forward, cautiously,
without the need to operate within a state of emergency,” stated Rick Phillips, Warden of
Hastings County. “I am extremely proud of the work that has gone into getting to this point,
however, we all need to remain vigilant and continue to follow the guidance of public health to
ensure our personal health and safety as well as the health and safety of those around us.”
Hastings County recognizes that the situation continues to evolve and will continue to provide
