There were five new cases of COVID-19 reported in Hastings and Prince Edward counties Wednesday.
With six recoveries there are now 44 active infections.
Two of the new cases were in Belleville, two in Quinte West, and one in north Hastings county.
Four of the five infections were found in unvaccinated or partially vaccinated people.
Two outbreaks remain active, one at St. Mary Catholic School in Trenton involving two persons and another
stemming from a ball game at Bain Park in Trenton involving five people.
Seventy-nine percent of Hastings-Prince Edward’s population 12 years of age and older have been fully vaccinated.
The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit reported three new cases of the virus in Northumberland on Wednesday.
There are seven active cases.
