The Hastings Prince Edward District School Board has awarded a tender for the construction of Easthill Elementary School in Belleville.
The construction contract was awarded to Oshawa-based company Garritano Brothers at a cost of just over $14 million.
It was the lowest of three bids.
The project was to have started this year but all tenders were over budget and the board had to wait for extra funding to be approved by the provincial government.
Easthill Elementary School will be built at the site of Queen Elizabeth School on MacDonald Avenue.
The total budget for the project is $15.5 million.
