“It’s about six feet wide like the last one, but this guy’s going to measure 28 feet long“
Those are the measurements of the world’s largest puzzle, and a Belleville woman plans on attacking it starting Friday.
In February, 24-year-old Maxine Olive set a world record after completing what was the world’s largest puzzle at the time. It was called the Ravensburger Memorable Disney Moments, which is 40,320 pieces.
She did it in 150 hours, smashing the previous reported record of 423 hours by an American man, however it will not be recognized by Guinness.
“It’s hard to standardize that puzzle, they say because anyone couldn’t just go out off the street and purchase that puzzle and make the attempt to break that record.”
A new puzzle is now the world’s largest, called Kodak’s Wonders From Around the World at 51,300 pieces (28.5 feet long by 6.25 feet high). There are 27 panels to the poster. She says she wants to set a world record with this puzzle too.
“You see pictures online of a few people who’ve finished the puzzle, but no one’s given any set time. Our hope is to do it in the same or better time (Ravensburger puzzle), which would put it at about 140/150 hours.”
The native of Tweed says she will start the puzzle on Friday morning (July 30), when she officially opens her new store called Sweet Escapes on North Front Street.
