Belleville police have released more information about the June 28th collision at Meyers Pier that killed a man and left a pickup truck submerged in the Bay of Quinte.
Police say a Dodge Ram drove through barriers and believe it hit security guard Lawrence Tilander, killing the 63-year-old Belleville resident.
When emergency responders arrived on scene around 4 o’clock in the morning they pulled a 35-year-old woman from Maynooth out of the water and took her to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Tilander’s body was located afterward near the truck in the water. It’s not believed the two knew each other.
Four days after the incident, 36-year-old Stephanie Osborne of Belleville turned herself in to police and was charged with dangerous driving causing death.
The investigation continues into why the vehicle was driven through barriers.
