In May of 2020, members of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch commenced an investigation regarding the distribution of intimate images of an underage female.
Through an extensive investigation and forensic examination of the suspect’s electronic equipment with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police Internet Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, police located over 1,000 images along with several videos, meeting the definition of child pornography.
As a result, a male youth has been arrested and charged with the following offences:
1. Young Person – Possession of child pornography x 2
2. Young Person Makes, prints, publishes or possesses for the purpose of publication any child pornography x 2
3.Young Person – Access any child pornography
The youth, who cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was released with a future court date.
