Without community financial support, hospitals would not have the equipment needed to provide quality health care.
And Friday, the 117 donors to the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation were recognized for the over $153,000 donated in the past months, most of which went to support the fight against COVID-19 at the hospital in Picton.
The money was used to purchase 30 specialized medical devices that helped in the pandemic, a specialized crash cart to transport and dispense medication, new vital signs monitors, high oxygen masks, and a portable ultrasound machine.
Around $23,000 of the total went to Quinte Health Care in general to help pay for upgrades to cardiac monitoring software used in BGH’s Emergency Department.
The donors were also commended for their support of frontline medical staff through virtual and safe distancing events.
