Ontario’s SIU has ended its investigation into an incident in Belleville last month, when a man was injured after causing a disturbance at a North Front Street store.
A Special Investigations Unit report says the man entered the store on the afternoon of February 20, 2021 and caused enough trouble that police had to be called.
The man, who according to the SIU was already unsteady, was escorted out of the store and slipped and fell several times, hitting his head in the process.
The SIU says the man reportedly had to be intubated and spend time in a local intensive care unit.
SIU Director Josephe Martino says based on the early investigation he is satisfied that police had nothing to do with the man’s injuries and has discontinued the investigation.
No update was given on the man’s condition.
