Belleville City Council is delaying a by-law on an agreement with Hastings County over concerns about speed camera money.
At its meeting on Monday, Councillor Kathryn Brown brought forward the tabling motion, expressing concern that Belleville’s automated speed-enforcement cash could be diluted and spread across the county after 2026.
Ontario ended the speed-enforcement program on November 14, 2025, but any tickets that were issued on or before November 13, 2025 remain valid, even if they were received after the ban took effect.
City staff were asked to seek clearer guarantees that Belleville will keep its full share of automated speed-enforcement revenue.
The by-law was tabled until the next meeting of council.
