With increased demand for seasonal outdoor patios on city sidewalks, Belleville Council will look at firming up some rules and regulations around those, at its regular meeting on Monday.
While seven businesses in the city operated seasonal patios last year, a clearly laid out application framework isn’t currently in place.
The goal is to make it easier for business and property owners to reach an encroachment agreement with the city, by clearly laying out the rules for patios, including functionality, furniture, fences and plants, and additional features.
Staff is recommending that encroachment agreements with the business who had patios last year be approved again, but with updates to the regulations, if council approves them.
Belleville Council meets at 4:00 p.m. Monday.
