On Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at approximately 9:45 a.m., a member of the OPP Central Hastings Detachment was on patrol in the Municipality of Marmora and Lake when they conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle.
The officer recognized the driver and attempted to confirm his identity after false information was provided.
The driver proceeded to take off on foot.
Once identification was confirmed, information returned advising that he was wanted on a warrant as well as conditions not to be in communication with the female passenger.
Central Hastings OPP officers, assisted by members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP Canine Unit located the male shortly after his attempt to flee.
As a result, police arrested and charged both the driver and passenger of the motor vehicle.
The driver, Jeremy Robert RICHARDSON, 40 years old of Marmora and Lake was charged under the Criminal Code with;
- Failure to Comply with Release Order
- Impersonation with Intent to Avoid Arrest
- Obstruct Peace Officer –
- Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code
Jeremy RICHARDSON was held in custody to appear via video bail hearing on February 4, 2021.
The passenger, Natasha Dawn JOHNSON, 32 years old of Trent Hills was charged under the Criminal Code with;
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Failure to Comply with Release Order
Natasha JOHNSON was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 25, 2021 in Belleville Ontario.
