Phase One of Ontario’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout has officially hit the Quinte Region.
HPE Public Health says 230 residents at Hastings Manor, the area’s largest long term care facility, were vaccinated today.
Staff from Hastings County, the health unit and Hastings Quinte Paramedics were involved in the vaccination program today, after a pilot project to bring vaccines to the region last weekend.
The health unit says as the area’s allocation of COVID-19 vaccines rises in the coming weeks, the program will be expanded, but will still follow Ontario’s rollout guidelines and start with high risk individuals, so members of the public are being asked to be patient.
The health unit will provide updates directly to the next batch of eligible groups, as well as through its social media platforms.
