Quick response with effective equipment saved the main part of a large house in the far reaches of Prince Edward County Friday night.
Thirty-five firefighters from stations 1 and 3 responded after 8 o’clock to a house fire on Long Point Road southeast of Milford near Lake Ontario.
An aerial ladder truck was used to keep the fire from destroying the entire home.
About $250,000 damage was done to the house which is valued at a total of $600,000.
The cause is listed as undetermined but is not considered suspicious. No one was injured.
Meanwhile, embers from the fire started a small grass fire in a wooded area near the house that also had to be dealt with.
