An assignment court date has been set for two young men in connection with a serious assault at a general store on Cannifton Road and subsequent fire in the east end of Belleville last October.
Ro’s General Store was robbed on October 16 last year by two men who assaulted the store owner. The assault left the store owner in serious condition with stab wounds. Later the same day, a cottage in the east end of the city along the shores of the Bay of Quinte was vandalized and set on fire.
The following week Kyle Arsenault, of Belleville, was arrested at a home in Belleville and Jordan Earle, of Moncton, New Brunswick, was caught in Moncton after fleeing the province.
Both men were charged with attempted murder, arson, break and enter and possession of stolen property.
The assignment court date is on October 16, one year to the day from the date the crimes were committed.
